Founder & Owner
Nicky Lieberton
Born 1986
Horses have been a constant thread throughout Nicky Lieberton’s life. What began in the sport soon grew into something deeper than riding alone: a feel for horses, for quality and for what is truly right.
In her younger years she was active in show jumping, competing up to ZZ-Licht level with her first own horse, Legend — a son of Lauries Crusador. Yet her strength lay not only in the riding, but in the bigger picture: spotting potential, developing horses and creating something with vision and presence.
In the years that followed, Nicky made a deliberate choice to shift her focus. No longer in the ring herself, but building a business that reflects her way of looking and working. Her love for Iberian horses became an important foundation — horses with character, presence and feeling.
With a background in retail and hospitality, she brings a refined sense of experience, detail and hospitality. Within NL Stables this translates into an environment where calm, quality and trust come first — for horse and client alike.
Today Nicky focuses entirely on developing NL Stables as a distinctive sport and trading stable. Together with Rodrigo Laserna she is building a strong and recognisable concept in which carefully selected horses, presentation and a clear vision come together.
No mass, no rush — but attention, feeling and quality at every level.
Grand Prix Trainer
Rodrigo Laserna
Born 1987
Rodrigo Laserna grew up among the horses on his family’s ranch in Colombia, where his feel for horses and training was shaped at an early age. Driven by strong intrinsic motivation, he developed largely self-taught before continuing his education at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art in Jerez, Spain, under Rafael Soto.
There he not only refined his riding but specialised in training horses in-hand — a discipline in which he now distinguishes himself internationally. His ability to develop horses towards collection, particularly piaffe and passage, makes him a sought-after specialist.
After his training, Rodrigo worked at the renowned Heilan Horse Culture Museum in China, where he was responsible for training a quadrille. This path eventually brought him to the Netherlands, where he worked at Academy Bartels, among others, developing further within international dressage.
In his own competitive career he successfully brought several horses to higher levels, including Grand Prix and international Small Tour. In recent years, however, his focus has been entirely on training and coaching horses and riders.
From NL Stables, Rodrigo is building — together with Nicky Lieberton — a modern and distinctive concept within dressage and horse trading. His work is characterised by calm, precision and a deep understanding of biomechanics and training.
Alongside his daily work in the Netherlands, Rodrigo travels internationally to coach riders and horses. Riders at home and abroad seek him out for his refined technique, his eye for detail and his ability to develop horses in an honest and sustainable way.

Quillemette Kraaikamp
Born 1991
Quillemette Kraaikamp is an indispensable link within NL Stables, where sport, presentation and an eye for detail come together.
With a background in equestrian sport and years of experience in training and livery yards, she developed into a versatile rider with a sharp eye for quality and development. She now competes at PSG level and is responsible for presenting the NL Stables horses in sport.
A special role is played by her partnership with Elias Torreluna — a horse selected and purchased by NL Stables, with whom she has developed successfully in the sport. Together they won several titles and championships, including international success at the MCI Championship. She recently took Elias over herself, underlining the strength and continuity of this combination.
Besides her sporting achievements, Quillemette is the founder of Hypic Hippische Fotografie and has built a strong reputation within (inter)national equestrian sport. Her work is characterised by a feel for timing, presence and detail — qualities that align seamlessly with the vision of NL Stables.
Within the team she translates this into the daily presentation of the horses and the brand. From training to imagery, from experience to presence: Quillemette makes sure everything is right.
Competition Judge & Trainer
Alfonso Laguna Guerrero
Born 1993
Alfonso Laguna (1993) grew up among horses and began riding at a riding school in Madrid at the age of six. During this period he gained plenty of competition experience in the youth classes. He then decided to focus entirely on horses and went to work at various professional stables and with different riders in Spain.
From a young age Alfonso was involved in PRE morphological competitions, where he could put his eye for detail to perfect use. He later graduated from the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art Foundation in Jerez, Spain. After his studies he worked at various businesses as a rider and instructor. He gained experience not only in Spain but also in the United States, where he worked as a rider with different breeds.
Today he works with genuine passion — for himself and for NL Stables — with purebred Spanish horses. Alongside his many hours in the saddle and as an instructor, Alfonso adds a fine credential to his CV as a judge in Classical Dressage and Western Dressage. For NL Stables, Alfonso is the driving force in Spain — our ears, our eyes and a true talent scout.
